I am pleased to announce that we have just accepted the invitation to start competing in an Three Way Interclub with Lichfield and Tamworth - the first night will be 13th January 2016
We've had lots going on since the last blog post. We have become part of the MCPF, entered our first MCPF competition and TPG had 3 acceptances into Photofolio.
We've had a lot of excellent lectures and workshops along with theme nights and outings to various places. The season is not over yet, so check out the programme for what is coming up. Franco Kowalczyk - High Speed Flash Photography Workshop A big thank you to Franco and John for putting on an excellent afternoon. We really appreciated the effort to set everything up and spend the afternoon dropping things into water for us and getting wet! It's the highest attended workshop to date with around 30 present, and we even had a visit from the Legion's chairman. He came and had a pint with us and was very interested in what we were doing and the shots we were getting. Franco has again donated his fees to Cancer Research UK, and a donation has been made to the Legion for the use of the room for this session and the last studio session. Thank you to everyone that attended and for helping it be a fun, friendly and interactive afternoon. The atmosphere was lovely. We had a great studio session at the Legion. 13 members attended, thank you to Bill D'Arcy and Brian Dowdall for setting up the equipment and to Indi Dulai and Kerry Smyth for modelling. We all enjoyed the session and had lots of fun. I'm sure lots of images will be posted on Facebook.
On Saturday 31st January 2015 we had another Studio Session between 12 - 3:30pm at the Legion. It was a fun afternoon - thank you to Gary Allkins, Dave Donnelly and Brian Dowdall for providing the equipment. We had two lovely models Becky and Issy who were photographed by 21 people.
Steve and Brian have been back to the hospice a number of times now, to assist the day care patients to take photographs. The images are back and will be going to St Barnabus's Church for an exhibition very soon. They will then be framed and hung in the hospice.
They are finding the trips enjoyable and rewarding. Hi all
Big thanks to Brian and Graham who have co-ordinated and set up our first exhibition. Pop along to Mere Green Library and see your work on display. We have the space until March Kylie We'd like to wish all group members, visitors, legion staff and members a Merry Christmas and hope you all have a Healthy and Happy 2015.
Brian and Kylie have gone through the workshop sheets that you all filled out - thank you very much for completing them.
They have scheduled and average of a workshop a month over 2015 until the end of the season in September. We have some the rest rolling into next season and into abround December. Some of the events such as Studio sessions will need to be done on a Saturday afternoon as of space requirements. Brian and Kylie would like to thank everyone that has helped over the last 6 months with the PR events - we've done a lot of venues and have really succeeded in getting the TPG name out there.
We are now having an average attendance of 29 a week with 30 paid up members and a large number of visitors on our books who come along when they are able to.... this would not have been possible without all of your efforts so a BIG THANK YOU !!!!!!!!! xxxx We had an excellent lecture from Franko and John. He requested that if we thought the night was good, we should donate his fees to Cancer Research UK. This has been done today as instructed.
What a fantastic night. Our first TPG fundraiser went really well. We had a great turnout on the night which was really mixed with Legion members, TPG members, friends and family and Panache family and followers too. People were up dancing by the third song and this was constant throughout the night. Everyone seemed to enjoy the night and gave nothing but positive feedback - makes it all worthwhile. We'd like to thank Kylie for organising it, Hazel and Mark for printing the fab tickets, Carmel for running the raffle, John and Kylie for doing to door on the night and everyone who bought tickets etc to support us... Finally we'd like to thank Panache for putting on 3 packed sets. Also a thank you to those that came in fancy dress, the outfits were brilliant, but the winner of the night was little Izzy who stole the show in her beautiful light up witches dress and little goth hat headband. Her brother Corey was our werewolf of the night and entertained us with his air guitar and breakdancing, and a wicked howl over the mic at the end of 'Bad Moon Rising' panache-theband.weebly.com Marion has picked the new theme for 24th November - 'Turning'
There's lots of scope for interpretations on this one so hopefully you'll be inspired and we'll see your 4 images on the 24th. Brian Dowdall and Steve Knight went to John Taylor Hospice today for one of the two practical sessions. They got the day care patients taking photographs - well done guys x
This is an update on the Holy Trinity Photoshoot - the people that went did a collection to thank the church. We raised £46.70 - this has just been handed over today x
We had our first PDI Merit 1 competition last night - all I can say is WOW! - John Haines was treated to over 100 images and gave very useful critique. It was a fantastic collection of images and as always very interesting to see what we are all taking. Congratulations to the authors placed - results and images will be posted soon.
Today a few of us met at Holy Trinity Church to do a photo-shoot. We had a great time with lots of tips and tricks shared between members. Some were brave enough to climb the stairs to the roof. We'd like to thank the church for allowing us to do this and the warden, Colin, for giving up his time to unlock the church. We will be doing a collection and sending in a donation from the group to thank you and will be sending you some of the images too.
Thank you to everyone who has helped out at the recent PR events, we have two more booked for the rest of the year. Details will appear on facebook and will be announced on the evenings closer to the time
