Founded on the 2nd April 2014 by Brian Dowdall, Kylie Martin, John Laver and James Bradley.
A Sutton Coldfield based collective of like minded photographers who wish to promote all aspects of photography.
The group welcome photographers of all levels and people new to photography. We provide workshops, speakers , activities, competitions and social events but above all want to make photography enjoyable with a forward thinking group of individuals.
The evenings are split into two halves with a break to enable people to get drinks from the bar and to look at any work that might be on display. As you will see from the programme we have a variety of events throughout the year. External lecturers that we have booked will visit the group with a selection of their work in print and/or digital format. They will display and talk about their images and offer hints and tips. You are welcome to ask questions throughout the evening, lecturers are always more than happy to have interaction.
Competition evenings are a great opportunity to see the members own work and listen to critique from an external judge. The members are divided into three categories - novice, intermediate and advanced.
Theme nights were created to encourage people to go out and be creative and produce images within a given time frame. A nominated member will pick a topic and (this is open to members and non-members) you have about 6-8 weeks to snap away. You then bring 4 images with you on the dedicated night and present them to the group. It's proved to be a fun evening and people are enjoying the process. At the end of the night the next person will be nominated and they will announce the topic the week after.
Workshop evenings are held approximately once a month and we will be covering a number of different topics. Some of the advanced workers in the group along with external colleagues are offering their time to assist others who need more experience in certain areas such as camera craft and software - see programme for more information.
As well as the workshops we now have a regular studio session on the last Saturday of the month. The places are limited and are only available to members.
